This reminded me of the Dean Martin song, " It's a Marshmallow World in the Winter"! Here and in many rural areas around the country, we see these huge groupings of round bales of hay, wrapped in white plastic for preservation. I got to see one of the machines in progress, and it just amazed me from loose hay to a giant marshmallow in just seconds! Amazing to watch the process. It would be a real task, if one would try to roast one over an open fire though! LOL Typically seen in early summer to late fall, and a fork lift is needed to move them! Cool site, if you aren't familiar with the process. Hope you enjoy the Marshmallow World in Wisconsin!
As a retired teacher, having taught for 35 years, I spend a lot of time in our many flower gardens, with water features, metal sculptures, and many flowering trees, bushes and shrubs. My wife gave me a digital camera for a Christmas present a few years ago, and I started taking photos of the many types of flora and fauna on our property. This became an enjoyable hobby for me, to enjoy the outdoors, and capture some of the beautiful photo opportunities that our gardens have provided. I especially love close-ups of flowers and insects, and basically anything that has something unique to capture on film. I have entered several contests in our area, and even won some recognition with my photos. I have posted on Face Book and am now...

Perfect title for this great capture!

Great find and capture! I don't think that they do this here, in the UK. At least I have never seen or heard of it. The next time that I have the opportunity of conversing with a farmer, I'll make mention of it. It is such a good idea!

Who knew they grew marshmallows in Wisconsin! Great rural scene Randy..tweeted

Check out my friend, Wayne Stabnaw, who was a guest artist at our annual Art Show and Garden Walk this year, as he is always trying to "top" me, and he usually does. He came up with "Irish Marshmallows!" LOL You would truly enjoy his galleries! I would personally like to offer my gratitude to you for visiting my site, and choosing this shot to comment on. It is very honorary to me, and it means a lot! Your comment is so very welcomed and very much appreciated! Forever, Elvis
Debbie Portwood
Wonderful shot Randy! They even bale cotton like this now.. I was just getting used to the huge oblong bails with tarps on top! :D Oh well progress must happen I suppose! v.f

Thanks Sandi, and the campfire would have to be more like a bonfire. LOL

Smores! :)
Randy Rosenberger replied:
OH YA! You bring the large Hershey chocolate bars, and we can build one huge fire, and Wayne Stabnaw already volunteered his skid steer to move the mallows! Oh we must contact Billy for the Graham Crackers! LOL Love it, and enjoy the mush!
Randy Rosenberger
Thanks much Anne, and I do love your keen sense of humor, as I have a friend in Neenah, WI that volunteers his fork lift to put them on a huge tree trunk, as a stick, and trying roasting them, but then for those who want S'mores, we could be in big trouble! LOL
Randy Rosenberger
Got that right, good Buddy! For sure, for sure! It is a bargain, if the price is right! LOL Love your keen sense of humor, Wayne! I truly and respectfully appreciate your nice comment and taking the time to view and comment on this piece. It is inspiring to see your awesome support!
Wayne Stabnaw
I will drive them but you have to build the fire and tell me when there done.

Are you going to drive the "mallows" to use then, Wayne, as we are sitting around the campfire! LOL You sure got that one right, my friend! Thanks for your grandiose sense of humor. I love it! Forever, Elvis!

Thanks for your nice comment and your keen sense of humor, Nava, as you will never know how much the giggles, chuckles, and laughter I get from some of your messages and emails, really picks me up, especially on some of the "downer" type days. I appreciate you very much as an important and integral part of our growing group. Oh, we hit position no. * today out of nearly 3000! Yah! But, you are also a very wonderful friend to have, with your support, cheerfulness, and sense of humor, as the song laments, "That's What Friends Are For"! Thanks again for being you, a superlative person!
Wayne Stabnaw
Randy for roasting these marshmallows you need a tractor with bale spear mounted on a front end loader. But you need to guess when they are done as you a ways away from the fire.
Nava Jo Thompson
---the giant stick is in plain view in the background--you just have to 'whittle' one off--actually--you will need several for all of the Wisconsin group for the marshmallow roast-- :)
Randy Rosenberger
Oh by the way, Wayne, as you are so versed in finding unique things in the art field and photography paraphernalia, might you know where I could buy a 'GIANT" stick for roasting these? LOL Thanks for being there always, Wayne as you and your wife are such fine people to know, and I truly relish our acquaintance!
Wayne Stabnaw
Hi Randy, I see that you found the marshmallows. Great job on taking the photo.

Thanks much, Joyce, as I found it atypical of Wisconsin landscapes in agricultural areas, and thought it may be of interest to some.
