Description
This was taken of a unique cupola on top of a home built during the Civil War era! It was used as a viewing point, for scenic beauty, but also for spotting the enemy, if they might approach the area! it also served and a sign of beauty of the historical homes of that period! I loved the old chimney, roof line, and the unique and unusual cupola atop the residence!

Randy, I am revisiting this Longtime Favorite Classic, I like to imagine all that I could see from this promontory lookout. Such an Excellent Capture! If I were in control, I would definitely feature this one among the Best of the Best on your WFS Homepage. L&F

We were told that most of the homes, where this is, were built during the Civil War. These lookout perches were used to keep an eye out for raids, etc. from the enemy. Was very beautiful and very well kept! Thanks for your feelings about this pic. Means a lot, Doug!

Another longtime Favorites! How I would love to have one of these atop my own home. I'd watch sunsets with family and friends. L&F

Thanks much, Gail, as it was quite a tour, with the homes of the Civil War era, and all the goodies that have been restored. It was a fun day!
