Description
This is a true "DIAMOND in the rough", as the sweet dog is called Diamond, and my first meeting with this very special friend!
German Shepherds, Dobermans, Rottweilers, and Pitbulls, have had their time in court!,.
Media likes extravagance! Yes, there have been more incidences of damage by Pitbulls, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, or Dobermans.
Part has to do with media, as who in the heck would want to admit they were attacked and put down by a killer poodle or chihuahua! LOL
This wonderful rescued Diamond, met me at the door and welcomed me, not with opened "Mouth", but with open paws.
I was a total stranger entering into a friend's house, and I was accepted as a member of the family from my friends and their darling, Diamond, rescued hours before her total demise by euthanasia.
I gestured for Diamond to Sit. And. the fun began! That lovely animal, sat and would still be sitting there today, if I hadn't, on purpose, tapped my chest twice, not once, not thrice, but twice, and she very gently came up on my legs, and so gingerly took a shelled peanut from my mouth, and gave me a kiss.
Sure wish I could have taught this trick to my girlfriends when I was much younger! LOL
We pay millions of dollars in taxpayers' money to accommodate prisoners with large screen tv access, plenty of sex, great food, and a life offered to them which is better than the companion pets on "death row"!
Why are we so quick to put down an animal that does something that is more natural to them than a human being?
Thanks much to Dave and Maureen for their rescue of this lovely animal, as it is very deserving of life at its fullest for a loving and devoted pet.
I appreciate people who know what good friends our domestic animals can be, if not trained to do what they were not meant to do in the first place.
Respectfully submitted in hopes of giving them another look at retention and training, or REHAB, rather than immediate death!

What a lovely dog! I cannot understand people who buy dogs and put them in environments that are unsuitable for them. Diamond was very fortunate in being rescued at the eleventh hour! Don't set me off about the murderers sitting on Death Row! I have been told that some of them can be there for as long as twenty years and that some States have abolished the death penalty, because it is so expensive to keep these prisoners fed and housed for long periods of time, while they make appeal after appeal. Not to mention the expense of the court cases, They are nearly all there because they took another person's life without justification. The police are not perfect and they do make mistakes, but they cannot make that many mistakes. And poor unwanted animals, who have committed no crime, have their lives taken from them! Unless some kind person like your friend comes along and gives them a loving home. Glad that it ended well for Diamond.

Sweet image and story, Randy! My wife and I used to rescue cats. She passed away suddenly last December, and now I have the last four rescues for companionship.

Randy, It's been a while since I last visited this heartwarming piece, sorry to hear Diamond had been destroyed. )-: my son's family recently rescued a 5-year-old male Great Pyrenees, a more gentle large dog would be tough to find. And what a great lesson it is for my grandchildren; Dogs are not something you throw away! Very touching story and replies... L&F

Thanks Donna,. I will share this comment with her owner, as she sadly had to have her put down. She attacked another dog, just protecting her owner, but the law is very rigid concerning pit bulls or pit mixes. If it were another breed, they probably would treat it with similar rigidness. Dogs must be able to be controlled by owner, if they are to survive. This dog was great with people, but when another dog was present with the people, it was rough going for the other dogs.
