Description
This was an original old fashioned stone hitching post that sits next to a modern road with curb and gutter, but once, where it stands was a dirt or gravel road, back in the late 1800's. This was taken at the residence that was built in the later 1800's and totally restored to its original grandeur, complete with gardens, and this antiquated piece of history. When you would come to visit, you would usually have a horse, or horse and buggy, and you would tie it up to this post, while visiting or delivering to this residence. Sure beats parking meters!

First one like this I have ever seen and in front of a totally restored historic home and gardens. Thank you very much for visiting my galleries and commenting on this shot, as I truly appreciate your time and support for my work, the work of our fine group of artists in the WFS group, and to all artists of FAA. It is truly appreciated, and welcomed! Forever, Elvis

This was taken during a historical tour of a late 1800's historic home and gardens, and one of the best trips I have had to pleasure to be involved in. This was an old hitching post, where people who visited the mansion owners, would stop, while the servants would tend to their horse and carriage, while the owners welcomed their special visitors. Thanks so much for your continual inspiring comments and your support of our group. Much appreciated!

Thanks, Sue! I thought it was somewhat unique, as we used to raise horses when I was a kid, and I have seen some of the more traditional hitching posts, like you see in Western movies, but this was a new one to me.
